MCCRS for Mathematics: Exploring the Revisions

Introduction

The Maryland College and Career Ready Standards (MCCRS) for Mathematics define what students should understand and be able to do in their study of mathematics. The PreK–Grade 8 standards have been revised and adopted by the Maryland State Board of Education to ensure that all students are equipped with the mathematical knowledge and skills necessary for success in college, careers, and life. These standards reflect current research and best practices in mathematics education and are designed to promote deep understanding, critical thinking, and authentic application. The goal of these professional learning modules is to introduce educators to the revisions in the MCCRS for Mathematics and to support their implementation through reflective, collaborative, and practice-based learning experiences.

Modules

The MCCRS for Mathematics: Exploring the Revisions modules include a total of 11 modules. All participants should begin with the Overview Module to understand the implementation timeline, the structure of the revised standards and their Companion Guides, and the Numeracy Development Framework. Following completion of the Overview module, participants should complete the grade-level module(s) that apply to the instructional setting.
